Where to pay a traffic ticket — the official payment page, city by city

There is exactly one right place to pay a US traffic ticket: the court or clerk named on your citation, or the payment processor that court runs. This directory links you straight to the official payment page for every city we cover, so you never hand your card to a look-alike site.

✅ Official links onlyEvery link goes to the court or clerk's own payment page.

Three rules before you type a card number

1) Only the court named on the ticket can take your money. Not the police department, not the city website, not a third party. 2) Paying is a guilty plea on a moving violation in most states — if you want a reduction, a deferral or a course, ask before you pay, because those doors usually close once the money lands. 3) Check the domain. A real court payment page lives on the court's own domain (often a .gov) or on a processor the court names, like Tyler, nCourt, PayIt or MunicipalOnlinePayments — and the court links to it from its own site.

Pick your city

Each row gives you the city's guide and the official payment page. If your city is not listed, open your state page — it links to the state's courts and the agency that handles the rest.

Before you pay — the three questions worth asking first

How to tell the official payment page from a scam

Common questions

How do I know which payment site is the official one?

Use the one linked from the court or clerk named on your ticket. A real payment page sits on the court's own domain - often a .gov - or on a processor the court names, such as Tyler, nCourt, PayIt or MunicipalOnlinePayments, and the court links to it from its own website. If a link reached you by text or email, treat it as suspect until the court confirms it.

Can I pay a traffic ticket in instalments?

Often yes. Many courts offer a payment plan, and most states now have an ability-to-pay process for drivers who cannot pay in full. It does not reduce the violation, but it stops non-payment turning into a suspended licence. Ask before the response date, not after it passes.

Should I pay first and ask for traffic school later?

No. In most states paying is a guilty plea, and the chance to reduce the charge, defer it or take a course usually closes once you pay. Ask the court about those options first, and only pay if none of them apply to you.

Informational only, not legal advice. Payment methods, fees, deadlines and fine schedules differ by state and by court — confirm everything with the court or clerk named on your ticket. Last checked 2026-10-12.
